Reflections of the SDP Stakeholder's Meeting
On December 5, 2024, the Regent Park Social Development Plan (SDP) Planning Committee conducted a detailed evaluation of their recent Stakeholders Table meeting, using the "Roses, Thorns, and Buds" approach. This feedback method, which highlights strengths (roses), challenges (thorns), and opportunities for growth (buds), was essential for the committee in assessing the community's experience and identifying ways to improve future meetings. The Stakeholders Table meeting, held on November 27th at the UN Urban Pavilion, brought together Regent Park residents and community members to discuss progress on the SDP and its future direction. The event provided a platform for residents to hear updates and engage in meaningful conversations about the neighbourhood’s ongoing redevelopment. The committee’s reflection highlighted several "roses," including the transparency and openness of the meeting, where residents felt heard and involved in shaping Regent Park’s future. The clear communication of information allowed participants to actively engage with the SDP’s progress. However, some "thorns" were noted, such as logistical concerns regarding the childminding service being on the same floor as the meeting. This arrangement differed from previous meetings held at Daniels Spectrum, which provided more suitable accommodations and improved flow. Looking ahead, the committee identified several "buds," such as expanding outreach efforts to encourage broader community participation and enhancing the meeting format to facilitate deeper, more focused discussions on key issues. By incorporating this valuable feedback, the SDP Planning Committee aims to build a more inclusive and effective engagement process for Regent Park residents, ensuring that future Stakeholders Table meetings reflect the evolving needs and aspirations of the community.
